Warri South Council Chairman Proposes Establishment of Farm Estate in Riverine Area

The Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Comr. Weyinmi Isaac Agbateyiniro, has revealed plans to establish farms estates in riverine communities in the council.
Agbateyinro said his administration has already set up a committee to engage with all stakeholders and community leaders, stressing that the project would commence soon.
The chairman who made the announcement during a media parley marking the first 100 days of his administration on Monday, said produce from the farm estates when harvested would be sold to the public at subsidized rates.
He said there is already an ongoing training programs for those involved in the agricultural sector.
Agbateyiniro also unveiled ambitious plans to construct an island within the region, drawing inspiration from Lagos’s Banana Island. The proposal will be pursued as a public/private partnership.
Addressing attendees, Agbateyiniro emphasized the potential of the project, stating, “Let everybody say it is not possible while we work to make it a reality.” He outlined plans to submit a relevant bill to the Legislative Arm and to establish a bylaw to facilitate the project.
In addition to the island initiative, Agbateyiniro highlighted various human capital development, infrastructural, and environmental sanitation projects undertaken in his first 100 days.
To enhance security, the council is set to mandate the installation of CCTV cameras in all hotels throughout Warri South.
Furthermore, Agbateyiniro announced the launch of the “Operation Keep Warri South Clean” program, which will commence in the first week of November.
The media parley included contributions from various officials, including the Vice Chairman, Hon. Kingsley Edafiadjebre, and other council supervisors, who detailed their departments’ achievements over the past three months. The event was well-attended by PDP leaders, council personnel, and local media representatives.
As the Agbateyiniro administration continues to push for growth and development in Warri South, the proposed farm village and island projects stands as a bold step towards transforming the local landscape and attracting investment.
