A-15 year old commercial tricycle (Keke) rider simplify identified as “Smally” operating between Ugbuwangue & Ogunu communities in Warri South Local Government Area (WSLGA) of Delta State was on Tuesday night hacked to death with battle axe by a young man identified as Jereoma who lives in Jeddo community in Okpe LGA of Delta elta state.
It was reliably gathered that the keke rider barely came into the business less than a month ago and does not even fully understand English language but fluent in Hausa. He was said to have picked up his killer between the hours of 8 – 9pm that fateful evening from Ugbuwague to Ogunu on a charactered basis only to be hacked to death with a battle axe at Ogunu community axis.
The assailant then carried his remains and dumped somewhere around around a plantain farm besides a private school at the Ogunu head bridge.
A member of the Ugbuwangue task force who does not want his name in print said, haven killed the tricycle rider, the killer with his blood soaked shirt took his keke in a bid to escape but the tricycle fell into a ditch.
The source stated that scores of Hausa’s trader who saw the keke fell down ran to assist the rider who, by then have alighted from the tricycle but was surprised to see him drenched in blood.
On further inquiries they discovered that the tricycle belong to someone they knew in the area.
According to sources, when they inquired about the real owner of the keke from him, he became inaudible and confused without any genuine and convincing answer.
The Hausa traders around then called the Ugbuwangue community task force Chairman and his team who, together took the suspect to the community security post for proper questioning while on handcuff.
Not satisfied with his response to questions posed to him, he was taken to a close by military post along the NPA expressway where he stubbornly declined to divulge the where about of who he collected the keke from.
However by now he has thrown his battle axe away not too far from where the keke was fell. The axe was recovered blood stained like himself.
Still wondering where the owner of the tricycle might be, other tricycle riders comb the vicinity around an abandoned park and the plantain farm and discovered the gruesomely mutilated body of the 15 years old “Smally” whose head was axed and opened up from behind and other parts of his body including his face.
The corpse was brought to the military post along the MPA express way at Ugbuwangue.
The sight of his open head and other multiple injuries infuriated the crowd who became agitated that the military men could not contain. The soldiers had insight that it was a civil matter to be handled by the police.
The agitated mob would not listen to anything about police and forcefully took the killer from the solider men’s custody and set him ablaze before the Police Area Commander, Chairman of Warri South LGA and Officers from the 3 Battalion Army Barracks arrived the scene.
The charred remains of the keke killer (Jereoma) has since been removed from the expressway by the Council officials.
