Warri South Council’s legislative arm mace missing

The Warri South Council’s Legislative Arm Mace has been declared missing by the Leader of the House, Hon. Kingsley Edafiajebre.
The mace according the leader of the house, was allegedly stolen from the office of the clerk on Tuesday by some disgruntled members of the house after plenary.
He said trouble started When he moved for adjournment during the House Sitting of Tuesday June 18, when he noticed that “some disgruntled members of the House started disrupting” proceedings.
Hon. Edafiajebre explained that he first noticed the disruption when he called on the Chairman, House Committee on Finance and Appropriation to present report of the 2019 fiscal estimate for consideration, after completing work on the budget estimate earlier proposed by the council executive.
According to Hon. Edafiajebre, it was after adjournemental of plenary and the Mace duly moved to the Office of the Clerk, that the “disgruntled” members led by the Deputy Majority Leader, Hon. Ochuko Eyekpimi, Hon. Jude Igerebo, Hon. Paul Jessa, Hon. Femi Okorodiden and Hon. Ogbitse Osanweren, reportedly broke into the Office of the Clerk and made away with the Mace.
The Leader of Warri South Legislative Arm, however reaffirmed that he “remains the authentic Leader of Warri South legislative Arm.”
When contacted, Clerk of Warri South legislative Arm, Comrade Godfrey Affor Maku, confirmed the story.
As at the time of filing this report, the whereabouts of the Mace was still unknown.
