Kidnapped retired police officer regains freedom
kidnapped retired Superintendent of Police, Chief James Omafuaire who was kidnapped two days ago by suspected Fulani herdsmen has regained his freedom.
He was abducted alongside his wife and one other person at his Ikpeshi quarry site in Akoko Edo Area of Edo State.
The former Igarra Divisional Police Officer regained his freedom on Wednesday night after payment of ransom.
It could not be confirm if Omafuaire actually paid the twenty five million naira ransom earlier demanded by his abductors.
Chief Omafuaire broke the news of his released Thursday morning in a text message.
The text message reads thus, “I was kidnapped by Fulani kidnappers in my quarry last Monday but was released after paying ransom in the evening of Wednesday.
“I am very grateful to all my well-wishers who participated in prayers and in contribution of monies and in kinds towards my release. May God you all”.
Chief James Omafuaire is an elder brother to Vanguard Senior Photojournalist in Warri, Akpokona Omafuaire.
The news of Omafuaire’s release led to spontaneous celebration in his home town of Akperhe-Olomu and Jattu where he is residing.
