NPDC,SEPLAT COMMISSION SAPELE HOSPITAL FEMALE,CHILDREN WARD

In its desire to make quality health care accessible to a broad spectrum of people, particularly women and children in its neighbouring host communities, Seplat Petroleum Development Company, operators of SEPLAT/NPDC Joint Venture, OML, 4,38, and 41, has commissioned a newly renovated and equipped female and children ward in Sapele General Hospital.

The newly modernized female and children ward of the Hospital boasts of equipment valued at millions of naira including Hospital beds with mattress and Macintosh, Accusson Sphygmomanometer dekamet, Suction machines, Wheelchairs, X-ray viewing boxes, Complete Oxygen therapy sets, Nebulizers, Sunction nozzles, Operating tables and dedicated 15KVA generator.

Others include, Pulse Oximeters, operating lights, anesthetic machines, oxygen gauges, Laryngoscopes, Galipot and other sundry equipments.
Addressing the mammoth crowd, who gathered to witness the commissioning of the hospital ward, the General Manager, Corporate Affairs and New Business Development, Seplat, Dr. Chioma Nwachuku, said with what Seplat has done so far, it has shown commitment to its corporate value of maintaining excellent partnership with its host communities.
She said; “SEPLAT is glad to be in the forefront of the efforts to arrest the high maternal mortality rate in the country and promote safe delivery and health of infants in the company’s host communities.”
Speaking earlier, the Managing Director of SEPLAT, Mr. Austin Avuru, who represented by Mr. Bright Omo, said Seplat had made a huge difference, not only in the area of education, construction, infrastructures, but also in the area health.
He said; “Today you get testimonies of the programmes we have ran; the I-can see programme, which I was told was a huge success in the communities. We have also done the safe motherhood programme, which again is a testimony to our commitment to the health and well being of the people of the communities around us and beyond.”
Also speaking, Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State who was represented by his Special Assistant on Project Monitoring, Sir Jude Senebi, said the state government has done its bid by providing the enabling environment for Seplat to operate, urging the community to complement government efforts by maintaining the peace in the community.
“Delta State Government also has about the best teaching Hospital in Nigeria today; that is the Delta State Teaching Hospital in Oghara. His Excellency the Governor has done very well and I know that Oghara Hospital is turning into a world class facility. I think the only charge I will have to make, is to continue to appeal to us to give SEPLAT that environment which they required. Because that is the one thing they need from you,” he said.
