At least eight persons, including the Director of finance and supply Ughelli North Local Education Authority, Sir and lady Kekai Stanley Amakama, PDP state woman leader, Barr. (Mrs) Felicia Adowei Ajagu received the honour of knighthood of the sacred order of Saint Christopher and Mary Magdalene.

The investiture was done by his lordship Rt. Revd. Edafe Benjamin Emamezi (JP) Bishop, Diocese of Western Izon .

Also honoured were: Enemaro Charles Alordiah; Knight, Victoria Oghenekome Alordiah; Dame, Fakrogha Mabel Okuboere; Dame, Lady Florence Nkeiruka Ejiaga; Dame, Mrs Maureen Ayoroh; Lady Auxiliary and Mrs Celestina Predia Kekai ;Lady Auxiliary.

On his part the guest preacher, the Rt. Rev. J. O. B. Bada, Bishop Diocese of Etsako stated that there was a reason for God to call those knighted to serve in his vineyard.

In his words “during investiture, I always tell the knights that you were raised particularly in the position of knights to be an executive evangelist because the Bishop saw something in the way you lead your homes and the way you compose yourself in the offices you hold. You have proven that you know the lord and the lord is leading you because whatever is remaining in your life right now must be a season of testimony.”

He charged them saying, “henceforth your homes, your children must be a model that the world will look at and say what a great man or woman of God that was called to serve the lord. After today, there is no going back anymore. All you are, all you have must be used to serve God and then there will be celebration in heaven that, that is my son and daughter.

Continuing, he said “as a knight you are now a stakeholder in the church. You are the one representing the bishop and the interest of God in this church. A knight is a solution and not part of the problem of the church.

Earlier while speaking on the first session of the third synod, he stated that synod is a time to come together to take stock, look at what have been done, receive fresh anointing to go back to do more for God. Citing 2Timothy 4.5, he charged the priests to labour without looking back, be obedient and not fight the bishop on every issue. He concluded by asking the wives to support their husbands and not turn them against fellow priest or bishop.

Fielding questions from newsmen shortly after the investiture, Sir Kekai Stanley Amakama, thanked God for the opportunity. He said “today my bishop has given me one of those rare privilege and opportunity to serve God, the church and humanity. I consider it a privilege and not a right because no amount of money can buy the experience and knowledge I have gotten so far.” He promised not to disappoint the bishop and the trust bestowed on him in anyway.
