By Tejiri Ebikeme
A pressure group, Delta Prosperity Initiative, has hailed the Governor of Delta State, Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa over the re-instatement of the Chairman and members of the state’s Civil Service Commission.
The group stated this yesterday in a statement signed by its Chairman, Elder Amake Eke and made available to our Correspondent in Warri.
The group commended Governor Okowa for the re-instatement of the Commission’s chairman and its members just within one hundred days in office.
They said the labour-freindly Governor has by this actions responded stoutly to the public outcry of injustice, noting that he has demonstrated his high regards to the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
They group also appealed to Governor Okowa to extend this magnanimity to the newly recruited Civil Servants by lifting the embargo placed on them.
“The earlier he unties the knot to set the workers free the better for him because it will show that he is a leader having the milk of human kindness, ” said the group.
It would be recalled that the immediate past Governor of the State, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan suspended the Chairman of the Delta State Civil Service Commission along with the board members four days before his exit from office after he had approved the recruitment of 986 persons into the State Civil Service Commission in December 2013.
Governor Okowa in a letter conveyed through the state SSG, Hon Festus Ovie Agas recalled the suspended persons.
