Man, 25, To Keep A Date With The Hangman For Stealing N955,600

A young man of 25 years old is to keep a date with the hangman for stealing the sum of N955,600.
Delta High Court sitting at Warri yesterday convicted and sentenced to death by hanging Mr. Julius Aboy for armed robbery.
Julius Aboy a native of Egbo village with others now at large on or about the 4th day of March, 2011 at Warri within Warri Judicial Division robbed one Godwin Gwuene of the sum of N955,600 while armed with a gun and knife.
The money was “ususu” contribution by Cleaners of a company (name withheld) in Warri. The offence took place on the 4th of March, 2011 but luck however ran against the gang when an oncoming vehicle knocked down their get away motorbike at the scene of crime leading to the arrest of the convict while another one was set ablazed by an angry mob.
In delivering his judgement, Justice Marshal Umukoro of High Court 1, Warri said poverty should not be an excuse for anyone go into crime as there are several legitimate businesses to indulge in order to earn a living saying that he came from a poor background as his parents lived in a room and a parlour but he never used that as excuse to cut corners.
He lamented why a young and promising young man like this accused should go into robbing money contributed by poor cleaners.
