Permanent Voter’s Card: Police, Navy, SSS, Others Synergize to Maintain Peace

As the ongoing permanent voter’s card registration/collection exercise continues, security outfits in Delta State comprising the Nigeria Navy, Police, Air Force, State Security Service, Immigration, Road Safety, Fire Service and Prisons, have been synergizing to maintain law and order in the state, said Rabiu Husseini, Warri Area Commander.

Briefing newsmen at the Warri Area Command Office after holding a security meeting of all security outfits in the state, the Warri Area Commander, Rabiu Husseini said they had to call for the meeting in order to strategize and collaborate with other security outfits to ensure a hitch-free Permanent Voter’s Card registration/collection exercise.

He said that though crime rate in Warri and its environs were getting low, they still had to re-strategize on how to ensure that the existing peace continues to exist, noting that “we are approaching the Ember months”.

“We are here to find solution to criminal tendencies in Warri and its environs. We are also here to synergize, collaborate and to ensure a hitch-free permanent voters card registration/collection exercise ongoing in the state. For the fact that crime rate has come down we would not want it to go up, and considering the fact that the ember months are coming, we have to put some things in place to curtail break down of law and other,” he said.

He asked members of the public to always cooperate with security outfits by way of providing information to them, warning those with criminal tendencies to desist from their evil ways or they will be dealt with ruthlessly by the law.

Also speaking to newsmen, the Executive Officer Nigeria Navy Ship Delta, Navy Captain Rotimi David Oderemi, said the various security officers decided to be proactive and avoid a situation whereby things will get out of hands before they are being called upon.

He said; “This morning (not today) the various security stakeholders decided to be proactive in terms of support and always being ahead of situations. We do not want to be called when everything has gone to an extent that it will be difficult to control. So the resolution is to be able to seize the initiative from the beginning and make sure that we maintain law and order.”

The Deputy Superintendent of Nigeria Custom/General Staff Officer, Edo, Delta Area Command, Nwachukwu Victor, the Head of Operation Federal Road Safety Corp, Victor Osuro, the Chief Superintendent of Immigration/Chief Alien Officer, Warri,  Emma Ozodu Ibokwe, and the Chief Superintendent of Corp, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp, Area Commander1, Anarovweda Austine who spoke to journalists, said the meeting was timely as it will afford them the opportunity to synergize with each other and identify security challenges in the state.
