AHMADIYA MUSLIM JAMA’AT HOLDS EASTERN REGION CONFERENCE

In light of the condemnable insurgency acts and avoidable security challenges prevalent in the North Eastern parts of Nigerian, the Ahmadiya Muslim Jama’at Nigeria (AMJN) will on the 1st – 3nd of August, 2014 hold its Eastern Region Conference in Warri, Delta State.

The Deputy Head, Eastern Region, AMJN, Dr. Abdul Gani Enahoro, disclosed this to journalists yesterday at a pre-conference dinner held at Maxin Lotus Chinese Restaurant, Warri.

Dr. Enahoro said the conference was a timely one considering the security challenges the country is facing, adding that there will be Inter-Faith forum that would future national leaders of various faiths who have been invited to present papers aimed at promoting religious harmony in the country.

According Dr. Enahoro; “The conference would be attended by the National President (Amir), Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Nigeria, Dr. Mashood Adenrele Fashola and other dignitaries from the National Headquarters and participating delegates from Eastern Region of the Jama’at, comprising Edo, Delta, Rivers and all other state in the South-South and South-East geo-political zones of the country.”

His Excellency, the Governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan would be the Special Guest of Honour.

“The theme of the Conference is “Advent of the Promised Messaih and Inter-Faith harmony.” AMJN is and entirely peace-loving and peace promoting Islamic community spread across over two hundred nations of the world including Nigeria. In 2016, we shall be celebrating one hundred years of peaceful existence in Nigeria. Our Motto is “Love for All, Hatred for None,” said Dr. Enahoro.

 While interacting with journalists, Dr. Enahoro warned that Nigeria would be doomed if the current security threat by Boko Harma was not put in check, urging all Nigerians to support President Goodluck Jonathan’s effort in checking insurgency.

He assured Nigerians that AMJN is not going to jeopardize the existing peace being enjoyed with their brothers from other religious background.

The National Preaching Secretary, AMJN, Dr. Saheed Timehin attributed the insecurity problems faced in the country to the activities of politicians, who he said had “destroyed our cultural heritage for selfish gains.”

He said Boko Haram had been in existence since 1976, adding that suddenly they became a violent group recently when politicians started using them as thugs.

He also blamed the rise of insecurity to social injustice being experienced in the country, adding that the problem facing humanity was the problem of ignorance.

Benin Circuit President, AMJN, Mr. Tajudeen Onabanjo, in his contribution lamented that some people were playing politics with religion, a trend he said must be discouraged for peace to reign.
