Eight out of the 16 political parties that fielded candidates for the governorship and House of Assembly elections which held on April 11 in Delta State have accepted defeat and congratulated Okowa as the Governor elect.

The parties under the aegis of Inter Party Advisory Council said they were satisfied with the reports of the elections from the  polling units brought from the 25 local government council by their party agents.

The governorship candidates of the parties stated this while addressing newsmen in Asaba, the Delta State capital.

According to the parties, “having received reports from all our party agents at the collation centres from all the local government areas, we, conscious of the voting trend by the good people of Delta State declare that we have received the collated results from all our party agents from the local government areas and therefore concede victory to the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa as the duly elected governorship candidate”.

The parties also stated unequivocally that their field agents reported that the elections were free and fair, just as they called on all governorship candidates in the Delta election to be patriotic and consider the unity of the state and support the governor-elect so that the existing peace in the state is not truncated.

While congratulating the governor-elect, they wished him the best in his avowed mission to provide prosperity for all Deltans, saying that “we congratulate Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa on his victory and pledge our support to him and his administration”.

The parties includes People for Democratic Change (PDC), Accord Party (AP), Advance Congress of Democrats (ACD), Mega Progressive Peoples Party (MPPP), All Progressive Peoples Party (APGA), United Peoples Party (UPP), ACD and ID political parties.
