FOOG Backs Tinubu, Oborevwori for Second Term, Empowers over 200 Women in Warri

By Francis Sadhere, Warri

The FOOG Women Support Group for Tinubu has thrown its weight behind the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori in 2027, declaring that the President’s economic reforms and governance policies have laid a solid foundation for Nigeria’s long-term growth and prosperity.

The group made the declaration on Thursday during a conference and empowerment programme for women of Warri Federal Constituency held at Prest Royal Centre, Slaughter Road, Ugbuwangue, Warri, Delta State.

Addressing participants, the Director-General of FOOG said the gathering was not merely a political event but a platform to mobilise support for the continuation of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The Director, who was represented by Chief (Mrs) Esther Okotie-Eboh, the Iye of Warri Kingdom, argued that Nigerians should return President Tinubu for a second term to consolidate the gains of ongoing reforms, describing the administration as one that had taken bold decisions previous governments avoided.

According to him, the removal of fuel subsidy has released resources for infrastructure, social services and national development, while the unification of the foreign exchange market has improved transparency, boosted investor confidence and increased government revenue.

The FOOG Director-General also said the reforms had translated into significantly higher federal allocations to states, enabling sub-national governments to undertake more developmental projects.

He listed ongoing investments in roads, rail transportation and the energy sector as evidence of the administration’s commitment to expanding Nigeria’s economy, adding that efforts to strengthen local government autonomy would ensure development reaches communities at the grassroots.

The group further commended the Federal Government’s intervention programmes for small businesses, agricultural initiatives aimed at improving food security, education reforms designed to expand access to quality learning and scholarships, as well as measures to strengthen the nation’s healthcare system.

He also highlighted youth-focused initiatives on leadership and entrepreneurship, tax reforms intended to simplify compliance and increase revenue generation, and social intervention programmes aimed at cushioning the effects of economic reforms on vulnerable Nigerians.

The FOOG Director-General maintained that President Tinubu’s decades of political experience and leadership had equipped him to take difficult but necessary decisions in the country’s interest.

“Leadership is not about perfection; it is about progress. The journey of reforms is never easy after decades of mismanagement, but President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has demonstrated the courage to confront Nigeria’s toughest challenges head-on,” he said.

He stressed that the current reforms represent foundational changes that would deliver lasting benefits for Nigerians, urging supporters to mobilise responsibly ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Reaffirming the group’s position, he declared that FOOG believes in continuity, stability and a better Nigeria, insisting that these ideals could best be achieved through the re-election of President Tinubu.

Earlier, Speaking at the event, Chief (Mrs.) Esther Okotie-Eboh said the empowerment programme was designed to ensure that women, particularly the elderly, were not left behind in the group’s mobilisation efforts.

She said the initiative was inspired by the example of Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, whom she described as a strong advocate for women and vulnerable groups.

According to her, the group discovered during its door-to-door mobilisation that many elderly residents were willing to vote but were constrained by mobility challenges.

“Some of them told us they wanted to come out and vote but could not leave their homes because of old age and difficulty in movement. That inspired us to provide quality walking sticks to assist them so they can exercise their civic responsibility on election day,” she said.

Chief Okotie-Eboh disclosed that the outreach would extend beyond Warri township to the riverine communities, where members of the group would visit villages to ensure that elderly residents and women also receive support.

She urged the beneficiaries and supporters to vote for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, popularly known as “Ukodo,” in future elections.

The highlight of the programme was the distribution of empowerment items to over 200 women drawn from across Warri Federal Constituency.

Items distributed included large cooking pots, large coolers, industrial gas cookers and metallic tripod walking sticks for elderly women to aid their movement.

The group also expressed appreciation to the Olu of Warri Kingdom, Ogiame Atuwatse III, CFR, Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe and former House of Representatives member, Hon. Daniel Reyenieju, for their support towards the organisation and for making the women empowerment programme possible.
