Most Rev. Anthony O. Ewherido, Bishop of Catholic Diocese of Warri Catholic has described former Delta State Head of Service, Mr. Patrick Origho as “a very good man” as he celebrated his 70th birthday.

Bishop Ewherido made the declaration during a thanksgiving Mass organized at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Plantation City, Opete Community, Ughelli South LGA, in honour of the retired Head of Service.

According to Most Rev. Ewherido, “not even Jesus accepted it when people called him a good man. But you’re a good man”.

He commended Mr. Origho for dedicating his resources to God’s work, noting: “you’re housing the church for us. When I told him you have a church, he said, ‘No, na God’s church o’. You have that realization that God has given wealth to serve Him at a time when people glory in what they have. But you said no. You decided to serve God with what you have.”

He urged parishioners and Christians generally to create a “Prayer Corner” in their houses, stressing that “that’s where the Sacred and Immaculate Heart of Mary comes in.”

He charged members of Holy Trinity Catholic Church to work with the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Mordi, to bring the church to the glory of God, and praised Mr. Origho for his contributions to the Catholic Church, especially Warri Diocese.

The Bishop joined Mr. and Mrs. Origho, their children, family and friends to thank God for the celebrant’s “wonderful and outstanding career” and for his strength at 70.

In his vote of thanks, Mr. Patrick Origho said: “I’m overwhelmed with all the encomiums showered on me. Everything is from God.”

Rev. Fr. Mordi also appreciated the Bishop, other priests and the celebrant for their support to the church.

Dignitaries at the colourful ceremony included former Delta Governor, Chief James Onanefe Ibori, represented by Chief Champion Kpateghe and Governor Sheriff Oborevwiri, represented by Commissioner, Special Duties, Dr. Ifeanyi Osauoza .
