A former Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Michael Tidi, has commended the Managing Director of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, High Chief (Engr.) Kestin Pondi, for empowering 80 Nigerians with business grants totaling ₦800 million.

Tidi described the initiative as a significant step toward stimulating economic growth and strengthening entrepreneurship in the country.

Speaking at the empowerment ceremony held at the MBB Event Center along Refinery Road in Uvwie, Uvwie, Delta State, each of the 80 beneficiaries received ₦10 million to support and expand their businesses.

According to Tidi, the initiative reflects visionary leadership and a deep commitment to grassroots economic development.

“This is a remarkable demonstration of leadership and commitment to economic empowerment. By providing this level of financial support to entrepreneurs, High Chief Kestin Pondi has shown that private sector leaders can play a critical role in transforming communities and strengthening the economy,” he said.

Tidi explained that the intervention aligns with the principles of Keynesian and development economics, which emphasize the importance of injecting capital into the local economy to stimulate business activities.

He noted that such financial support would not only help the beneficiaries grow their businesses but would also create employment opportunities and promote sustainable entrepreneurship within the region.

“When capital is injected directly into the hands of entrepreneurs, it stimulates economic activity, encourages business expansion, and ultimately leads to job creation and improved livelihoods,” he added.

The former council chairman also urged the beneficiaries to make prudent use of the funds in order to justify the confidence reposed in them.

He further called on other corporate leaders and philanthropists to emulate the initiative, stressing that collaborative efforts between the private sector and community leaders remain vital to addressing economic challenges and promoting inclusive development.

The empowerment programme is widely regarded by stakeholders as a major intervention aimed at supporting small and medium-scale enterprises while boosting economic activities in communities across Delta State and beyond.
