Dr. Jacob Ighere has emerge President General of Oghara Elite Forum, foremost socio-political group of Oghara kingdom to pilot it’s affairs for the next three years.
Dr. Ighere defeated Chief Robert Eyaufe in a keenly contested election conducted by a four man Electoral Committee headed by Mr. Godwin Ogbodu, a technocrat, he polled thirteen(13) votes to floor Chief Eyaufe who garnered eleven (11) votes.
Mr. Tedman Odugo also defeated Hon. Isaac Okotete to emerge First Vice President General. Mr. Odugo polled sixteen (15) votes to dash the ambition of Hon. Okotete who got nine(9) votes.
Others who were returned unopposed and elected were Mr. Roland Emudianughe, Second Vice President General, Chief Jim Ofotokun, Secretary General, Mr. Victor Okpomor, Public Relations Officer (PRO), Chief Moses Okwe, Financial Secretary , Engr. Jeremiah Sakpoba, Treasurer, Chief Solomon Akpovie, Auditor and Charles Efetobor, Provost.
In his inaugural speech, Dr. Ighere, immediate Past Deputy Rector, Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara, newly elected President General expressed his appreciation to members for reposing confidence in him, he commended the Board of Trustees(BOTs), immediate past President General, Chief Joseph Ogunje and the Electoral Committee for doing a thorough and transparent job.
Dr. Ighere said that his dreams include but not limited to making the Forum more credible, visible and serve as a voice of Oghara Kingdom, Ethiope West Local Government Area, by extension Delta State and even beyond for unity, peace, progress justice and fair play.
While soliciting for the cooperation of all to move the Forum to greater heights, Dr. Ighere promised to operate an open door policy.
According to Dr. Ighere, “I want to use this opportunity to solicit for the cooperation of all to enable us deliver on our mandate. I promised not to betray the confidence you reposed in me.”
