NMDPRA Advises Petroleum Users To Avoid Panic Buying In Delta

Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has called petroleum users to avoid panic buying in this yuletide season.
This call was made by Mr. Victor Ohwodiasa, Coordinator,Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) in Warri, he said that there is sufficient Petroleum products that will last beyond the festive period.
Speaking with journalists, Ohwodiasa said that the petroleum depots were wet with products and added that there was no cause for “panic buying”.
According to him, the Federal Government is doing everything practically possible to sustain the availability of petroleum products especially in this yuletide season.
He added, “there is no need for panic buying because all the depots are wet with products ranging from Petroleum Motor Spirit (PMS), Automotive Gasoline Oil (AGO) and Dual Purpose Kerosene (DPK)”.
The Coordinator advised motorists not to stock fuel in the boot of their vehicles while traveling to avoid possible fire disaster.
He also advised people not to store petrol at homes noting that they are highly inflammable products.
Mr. Ohwodiasa spoke further, “storing petroleum products at home could endanger the life of the people and properties. People should shun carrying petroleum products about in vehicles or storing them at homes.
“They should buy the quantity they need at a time. They should also patronise only licensed retail outlets because they are the ones we have control over. If there are issues, we can go after them.
“However, if they notice any illegal operator that does not have license or selling PMS at home, they should reach out to us. The authority will take immediate action and give them feedback.”
While wishing Nigerians a merry christmas and a prosperous New year, Mr. Ohwodiasa stressed that the Regulatory agency was concerned about lives and properties of the citizens, particularly that of the Delta residents.
