Delta Guber aspirant blames Nigeria’s poor economy on bad governance

Delta State gubernatorial candidate for the 2019 general elections, Comrade Sunny Ofehe has blamed Nigeria’s poor economy on bad leadership and governance.

Comrade Ofehe, who is contesting under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), told newsmen in Warri that until Nigeria’s leadership problem is solved, the country will continue to experience economic backwardness.

The Delta State gubernatorial candidate said he will fix Delta State if given the opportunity to become governor, noting that all the people needed to do was to have a paradigm shift and reorientation.

He said he was not going to play the kind of politics that the people are used to in the country, adding that Nigerians must focus more on politics of ideologies rather than money bag politics.

On how he is going to fix Delta State, Comrade Ofehe said, “We will fix Delta State inline with Sustainable Development Goals (SDPs) to combat and improve the living standards of our people.”

On education, Comrade Ofehe said that the younger generation must be empowered and inspired to become reoriented on social matters and on building their future, adding that the youths shall be positively engaged to be self reliant and be given the tools with which they can contribute positively to society.

On how to tackle the issue of insecurity in the state, Comrade Ofehe averred that more emphasis would be placed on digital intelligence of the police coupled with zero tolerance policy to organized crime.

He noted that in addition the oil sector potentials in the state additional sources of revenue like agriculture, transportation, construction and other sectors will be developed to boost the economy of the state.

Comrade Ofehe said, “Agriculture and food production is key to providing everyone’s basic needs. We shall support and stimulate local farmers to produce agricultural products and ensure they have local storage facility for food. We shall provide small loans (backed by government guarantees) to support farmers to import better technologies from Europe.

Comrade Ofehe added that to fix Delta State he intends to work with the principles of transformation management, systematically combining changes in structures, empowering showcases in each council area, and providing financial incentives to people.
