2015: NACOJSP vindicated by Jonathan’s endorsement – Irikefe

The National Patron, Youth Wing and Secretary, Board of Trustees of the National Coalition for Jonathan and Sambo Presidency (NACOJSP), Dr. Benjamin Irikefe, yesterday said the group had been vindicated by last week’s endorsement of President Goodluck Jonathan for second term by the various organs of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Irikefe, in a press statement hailed the PDP’s Governors’ Forum, the Board of Trustees, National Executive Committee and over 8,000 Goodluck Support Groups, which gave automatic tickets of the party to President Goodluck Jonathan, to seek re-election in the 2015 presidential election.
Irikefe said the latest fate of Jonathan vindicated NACOJSP, which had stormed the national secretariat of the ruling party on April 1, 2014, to demand an automatic ticket for Jonathan to run for the presidential election.
Irikefe recalled that the NACOJSP delegation led by himself, handed over two letters to the National Secretary, Prof. Wale Wale Oladipo, for the attention of the National Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Muazu and Chairman of BoT, Chief Tony Anenih, and demanded that Jonathan be returned unopposed as the candidate of the party in the presidential election.
To this end, he urged Jonathan to reciprocate the gesture by formally accepting the call on him to run for a second term and publicly declare his intention to seek fresh mandate of Nigerians to retain his job in 2015.
NACOJSP’s leader asked Jonathan to act speedily, warning that his supporters were not only impatient but also restive. He urged the President to ” come out now in order to fulil his destiny.”
Irikefe, who also commended the Presidential Adviser on Political Matters, Prof. Rufail Alkali, for successfully organising and hosting over 8,000 Goodluck Support Groups, in Abuja, said the large turn out of Nigerians showed that Jonathan has touched the lives of majority of Nigerians through his transformation agenda and his people-oriented programmes and policies.
According to Irikefe, the outcome of the summit of the pro-Jonathan groups showed that “Alkali is well positioned and equipped to facilitate in the realisation of the dreams and aspirations of most Nigerians for Jonathan to be re-elected in 2015.”
The re-election of Jonathan, Irikefe emphasised, would enable him to conclude the good works he started in 2007.
Consequently, Irikefe assured Nigerians that the country is in safe custody of Jonathan and advised them to discountenance the inimical counsels of the doomsday prophets.
